Limpopo women in the law enforcement kick-starts women’s month with Operation Basadi at Mopani District

POLOKWANE – The SAPS Giyani policing area in the Mopani District was painted blue yesterday, 06 August 2021, as the 2021 Provincial “Operation Basadi” Kickstarted, led by the Provincial Head of Operational Command Center (POCC) Brigadier Dikeledi Mangena accompanied by the Provincial Head of Corporate Communication and Liaison, Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the Provincial Head of Crime Registra Brigadier Mulima and the SAPS Mopani District VISPOL Commander, Brigadier Marry Mashile.

As part of Women’s month celebrations, these type of operations which are still going to be conducted across the Province throughout August month, are intended to embrace the capabilities of women in blue in collaboration with the women from other Law enforcement agencies in carrying out their daily duties in the fight against crime within our province coupled with monitoring the compliance on Protocols pertaining to the Disaster Management Act.

The SAPS members from the Provincial, District, Stations, Units including the Air-Wing supported by the SANDF, Traffic officers, Community Police Forums and the YCOPs, participated during this operation.

The operation was conducted through roadblocks, stop and searches and tracing of wanted suspects.

Before the operation, Brigadier Mangena addressed the joint parade at Mopani District offices before they hit the ground running. She highlighted that the members must keep operating within their mandate and support each other to win the fight against crime in every corner of this province.

This joint operation has achieved tremendous successes which are as follows:

* 01x malicious damage to property

* 03 x Assault GBH

* 16 x DMA (failure to wear mask)

* 05 x Liquor Act

* 05 x Illegal immigrants

* 05 x Possession of illicit cigarettes

* 01 x contravention of the liquor act.

* 02 x Possession of dangerous weapons.

* 02 x Possession of dagga

* 12 x Public drinking

* 01 x Crimen injuria

* 21 x Traffic summons were issued

* 01 x Warrant of arrest was executed.
