POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has received a Special Legendary Award in recognition of her collaborative effort to combat crime, particularly gender based violence and femicide and other related crimes.
Held in a glittering event organized by the Limpopo Legends Awards at the The Ranch Hotel outside Polokwane on Saturday night, 05 November 2022, the Provincial Commissioner rubbed shoulders with seasoned artists such as Yvonne Chakachaka, Seputla Sebogodi, Dr Joe Shirimani and others.
Protecting the safety of our community, preventing and reducing crime levels is a collaborative effort between the police and entire community. The MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture in Limpopo Mrs Nakedi Sibanda- Kekana presented the special award to the Provincial Commissioner for playing a critical role in making a difference and the impact on the lives of the victims and bringing perpetrators to book since she took over as the first female Provincial Commissioner of Police Limpopo Province.
The Provincial Commissioner since her appointment has participated and led various programmes across the province, aimed at addressing the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide where she engaged with stakeholders and the community. The initiatives have made a tremendous impact in ensuring community members realise they have a stake in the safety of their communities where they live.
Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has appreciated the support and hard work of all the men and women in blue who always perform their duties to their best whenever our communities need them. The General also thanked all the stakeholders for their continued support in the fight against crime.
The Awards ceremony was primarily aimed at honouring legends in the entertainment space from Limpopo such as Seputla Sebogodi, Dr Joe Shirimani and Yvonne Chakachaka and many more.
