Life imprisonment handed down to ruthless armed robber

WESTERN CAPE – Police management in this province lauded an investigating officer who contributed to the life imprisonment sentence handed down to a ruthless armed robber who shot his victim in cold blood in 2017 during an armed robbery at a retail grocery store in a Manenberg mall.

The Cape High Court’s Judge Wille incarcerated Mzimasi Marasha (34) to life imprisonment for murder, 25 years for armed robbery with aggravated circumstances and 5 years for the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Marasha was arrested on the scene of the crime by police, while one of his accomplices was fatally wounded. One of the robbers managed to evade arrest.

Sergeant Luvyo Maki of the Provincial Organised Crime Investigating Unit pursued every avenue during his investigation to ensure that Marasha is removed from society for his heinous crime for a very long time.
