Leader of terrible west siders’ gang charged along Nafiz Modack and Zane Killian over attempted hit on William Booth

WESTERN CAPE - Moegamat Toufiek Brown alias ‘Bubbles” (35) was arrested today and instantaneously thereafter appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court.

Brown is facing charges of possession unlicensed of firearm and ammunition as well as gang related charges in relation to the Prevention of Organised Crime Act (POCA)

It is alleged that he acted as the middle man in the planning and orchestration of the attempted assassination of defence attorney William Booth on the 09 April 2020.

The case has been postponed to Monday 06 June for legal representative.

This comes after three other individuals accused of the attempted murder of lawyer William Booth pleaded guilty to the charges in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court and were expeditiously sentenced.

Kauthar Brown (the wife of “Bubbles”), Ebrahim Deare and Riyaad Gasant pleaded guilty and charges were withdrawn against the fourth accused, Kim Smith. Nafiz Modack and Zane Killian stand trial on the attempted murder of Booth and Brown will be added on the charge sheet.

The Provincial Head of the Western Cape, Major General Mathipa Makgato lauded the sterling work achieved by the investigation team and encouraged them to synergise with the prosecution in order to successfully bring the perpetrators to book.
