Residents of L deritz have expressed that they have no knowledge of what is happening around the envisaged massive green hydrogen project in their area . The project is set for an area of 4 000 square kilometres of land within the Tsau || Khaeb National Park near the coastal town . The residents claim that they do not see the so – called development or its spin – offs in L deritz . ‘ Ever since I heard about the green hydrogen project last year , I do not know if it has been completed at least , we as residents do not have clear information about the project ,’ said one of the residents who asked to remain anonymous . ‘ We don ‘ t know who the employees of construction of the green hydrogen project are . If opportunities in the project arise , the youth of L deritz should be considered first ,’ said another resident . In an interview with Nampa on Friday , L deritz Town Council spokesperson , Elwin ! Gaoseb said the youth of L deritz do not show interest in anything happening in the town . He added that
there are no employment opportunities yet in the green hydrogen project because the planning process of the project is yet to be completed . ! Gaoseb advised the youth to consider taking part in applying for scholarships offered by the green hydrogen project . ‘ We are still waiting for the green hydrogen project ‘ s team to alert us on the total number of people needed to work in the green hydrogen project ,’ he said .
