Yesterday, police officers from the Umhlali K9, Crime Intelligence and KwaDukuza police followed up on information regarding copper cables that were store at a home in Dawnside at KwaDukuza.
The team pounced on the property in KwaDukuza and upon seeing police, the suspect fled the scene. The property was searched and police recovered copper pipes, copper wire and copper cables weighing approximately 500kg. The seized items have an estimated street value of R300 000.
A case of contravening the second hand goods act was opened at KwaDukuza SAPS for investigation and the police are looking for a man who is alleged to be the owner of a scrapyard at KwaDukuza who they believe can be of assistance in the investigation.
