Laingsburg police confiscates presumed stolen property and drugs

Three men aged 22, 25 and 29 were detained by Laingsburg police on charges of possession of presumed stolen property and dealing in drugs respectively on Thursday 15 August 2024.

The Police members responded to information about a driver of a delivery vehicle who was driving recklessly on the N1 highway. The members drove approximately 11 km out of town where they found and pulled over the vehicle. The members inspected the cargo section, which resulted in the confiscation of fifteen bundles of copper cables for which the driver could not account for. This led to the arrest of two males aged 22 and 25 on a charge of possession of presumed stolen property.

In an unrelated incident the members were busy with stop and search operations when they received information about an identified man who is selling drugs to minors. The members convened, operationalised the information and approached an identified premise in 8th Avenue in Goldnerville at around 21:00. Upon entering the premises, they caught the suspect red-handed, busy selling drugs. They arrested the 29-year-old man for dealing in drugs.

Once charged, the suspects will make their court appearance in the Laingsburg Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charges.
