Kimberley FCS Unit adresses Varsity students about Gender Based VIolence and substance abuse

In an effort to increase awareness on gender based violence, the Commander of the Kimberley FCS unit, Lt Col Harriet McKenzie and her members addressed a huge group of students on Saturday, 19 February 2022 at the Sol Plaatje University in Kimberley.

The unit was invited to participate in the Sol Plaatje University’s first year orientation session. First year students from across the country were addressed in four hour long sessions to accommodate the huge group.

The groups consisted of 200 first students who were addressed by Sgt Morris on gender base violence and substance abuse.

He also addressed them on the impact and influence that studying away from home has and how  students become  vulnerable and easy targets who fall easy prey to these  social ills.

The awareness campaign comes at a time when gender based violence is still considered as a pandemic.
