Kidnapped victim rescued, four suspects nabbed

PRETORIA - A tactical operation led by the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has resulted in the arrest of four suspects for the alleged kidnapping of a foreign national in Vosloorus, Johannesburg on Sunday, 14 August 2022.

It is reported that the victim was at his place of work in Boksburg on Saturday morning, 13 August 2022, when five suspects stormed into the premises, held up security guards and forced the victim into their vehicle before driving off.

On Sunday night a team comprising members of the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Team Crime Intelligence, SAPS Special Task Force, Johannesburg Metro Police Department's K9 Unit, Gauteng Provincial Investigation Unit, Ekurhuleni South Hostage Negotiating Team, working in collaboration with private security pounced on a house in Vosloorus and rescued the victim unharmed. Four men were arrested in the process.

Two firearms, multiple cellphones and the vehicle which was allegedly used during the commission of the crime were found in the possession of the suspects.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court soon.
