Keetmanshoop, Namibia - The Keetmanshoop Municipality has embarked on a significant development project, handing over 71 erven in the Tseiblaagte Extension 7 residential area to Sebke Civil Construction for the provision of water and sewerage services. The ground-breaking ceremony, which took place on Tuesday, marks the commencement of this essential infrastructure development.
According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), who spoke at the ceremony, the project, valued at N.dollars 4.3 million, is expected to be completed by the end of February. This initiative is a part of the municipality's commitment to providing necessary services to its residents, emphasizing the importance of housing as a means of restoring dignity and building a stronger community. The Tseiblaagte Extension 7, an informal settlement in the southern town, has already been equipped with electricity.
Samuel Nashima, the Head of Infrastructure and Technical Services at the Keetmanshoop Municipality, noted that while the criteria for allocating the fully serviced erven are yet to be determined, the focus will be on first-time buyers. The estimated cost for an erf is N.dollars 16,900, making it an affordable option for many residents.
