KATHU – As the country is observing International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Sergeant Ben Eiman and Constables Blythe Jantjies , Beatrice Canchibatho and Tshwarelo Moleme struck again. This time they arrested two drug dealers who skipped a red robot in Kathu on Saturday, 26 June 2021 at 21:05.
The four members were busy conducting vehicle patrols in the vicinity of the Kathu Village Mall when they noticed a grey Toyota Yaris skipping a red robot at the intersection. They pursued the vehicle and stopped it. Inside the vehicle they found the male driver and his passenger. The occupants acted very nervous when Sgt Eiman instructed them to get out of the vehicle when he noticed a small zip lock plastic bag on the floor containing a white substance.
The members decided to take the vehicle to the Kathu police station where they conducted a thorough search of the suspects and the vehicle.
Inside the vehicle Sgt Eiman discovered 50 small ziplock bags and 3 large bags filled with suspected Crystal meth concealed behind the radio in the dashboard.
The street value of the drugs is estimated at R25 000-00. They also found cash amounting to R6750-00 which is believed to the proceeds of the sale of the drugs.
