NORTHERN CAPE – Members of Kathu Crime Prevention group 2 clamped down on drug dealers today, 16 November 2021 in the vicinity of the Kathu Park in Hendrick van Eck Street.

At approximately 19:00, the members were conducting stop and search actions close to the park, when they stopped a male person.

Upon searching him, members found small ziplock bags of dagga in his possession. The estimated street value is R1500-00.

The 31-year-old male was charged for dealing in dagga and will soon appear in the Kathu Magistrates court.

Earlier today, the same members found lost property which included hand saws which is used to saw down camel thorn trees (Kameeldoring trees) as well as knives and a toy gun.

The police will be following a zero tolerance approach this Safer Festive season and is issuing a stern warning to drug dealers, that the police will squeeze their space to operate.

The police is also concerned about the number of youngsters who buy drugs from the drug dealers in the area. If caught, they will also feel the full might of the law. Police visibility will be intensified during period especially under the theme, “Extending our reach through blue light visibility”
