Karuli misses out on 200m finals at Paralympic Games

Paris: Paralympic sprinter Petrus Karuli on Friday missed out on a spot in the men ‘ s T37 200 metres ( m ) finals , after finishing last in heat one at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games . Karuli , who debuted at the Paralympic Games , participated in his third event at the championships . The Namibian athlete started his championship with a sprint in the 100m on the first day of the track and field events , then a sprint in the 400m where he was disqualified for a lane infringement , before taking part in his final event on Saturday evening at the Stade de France in Paris . On Saturday night Karuli ran a seasonal best of 25 . 24 seconds , but it was not good enough to take him to the next round of the 200m sprint . Saptoyogo Purnomo of Indonesia won the heat with a seasonal best of 23 . 41 seconds , while Ali Alnakhli of Saudi Arabia came second with a seasonal best of 23 . 43 seconds , and Poland ‘ s Michal Kotkowski came third with a time of 23 . 51 seconds . Team Namibia now only has one athlete expected to
compete in the championships . T11 sprinter Lahja Ishitile and her guide Sem Shimanda will compete in the women ‘ s T11 200m finals on Saturday evening at 19h25 Namibian time . So far , Namibia has won one medal at the championships , a gold medal through T11 female sprinter Lahja Ishitile and her guide Shimanda . At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games , Team Namibia returned with two medals – one silver and one bronze won by Ananias Shikongo and Johannes Nambala , respectively .
