Kamesh police on the hunt for arson and murder suspects in separate incidents

SAPS Kamesh detectives are on the hunt for a suspect who allegedly set a home alight in Oliver Street, Blikkiesdorp, Kariega, resulting in the death of two people during the early hours of this morning, 17 October 2021.

 

It is alleged that at about 00:22, six people were inside the house when the fire started. Some of the occupants managed to break down the back door and escaped.  As a family friend aged 37-year-old went back into the house to rescue a 3-year-old boy, they were trapped and burned to death. The names of the victims will be released once formal identification is done.

 

The suspect is known and an arrest is imminent.

 

Cases of murder, attempted murder and arson is under investigation and the motive is yet to be established.

 

In a second unrelated incident two males were admitted at 03:10, this morning, Sunday, 17 October 2021, to hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident took place in Taylorbird Avenue in Rosedale.

 

A 20-year-old male passed away in hospital while the second victim, also a 20 year old male is receiving medical treatment. The motive for the murder and attempted murder is not known at this stage and is under investigation. The name of the deceased will be released once his next of kin was notified. Investigations are continuing.
