K9 Unit contributes to operational successes

JOE GQABI DISTRICT – Barkly East K9 Unit contributed to the operational successes of the stations during weekend operations.

Maclear – The vigilant members from K9 Unit, Sgt Nduku and Sgt Futho were on crime prevention duties doing foot patrols around Maclear taxi rank where they spotted an exchange of items between two males.

As they approached the one male and searched him, they found ten small plastic zip bags containing crystal meth drugs (Tik) and an amount of cash to the value of R260-00. A 28-year-old suspect was arrested.

Ugie – During Operation Vhuthu Hawe on Sunday, 06 March 2022, at 16:00, to Monday, 07 March 2022, at 04:00, the K9 members Sgt Nduku, Sgt Ntshanka and Sgt Futho followed up on positive information about drug dealing at Old Township Ugie. A 29-year-old suspect was arrested in possession of seventy five full boss mandrax tablets wrapped in a plastic bag.

Three packets of dagga were also found on top of the suspect’s bed.

The Acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the successful arrests and confiscation of the drugs.
