Mayisewa Alpheous Makhubo (38) and his close corporation, Thembiselwa Trading CC appeared before the Frankfort Regional Court on Thursday, 16 September 2021 where he was convicted and sentenced as charged for contravening the Tax Administration Act.

A preliminary probe by the South African Revenue Services (SARS) uncovered Makhubo’s fraudulent activities that costed the receiver of revenue (SARS) in access of more than R1 million. The incident took place between 2016 and 2019.

The matter was then reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation in Bloemfontein for further investigation. Makhubo was served court summons on 18 October 2019. He appeared in court on several occasions, culminating in his recent conviction.
