– A joint intelligence driven operation conducted by members attached to the K9 Unit, Flying Squad and Provincial Traffic resulted in the arrest of two foreign nationals, aged 25 and 35, for dealing in mandrax.
The members received information from a reliable source of drugs being transported in the Paarl area. They immediately operationalised the information and spotted the said vehicle with two occupants in Drankenstein Road, Paarl. The vehicle was stopped and searched, and the members found 270 mandrax tablets and an undisclosed amount of cash believed to be the proceeds of crime.
Once charged the suspects will appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, on Saturday 07 September 2024 at around 23:00, members were busy with crime prevention patrols in Protea Park, Atlantis when they noticed a suspicious looking man. The members approached and searched the man resulting in the confiscation of a .38 revolver with its serial number removed.
The suspect was arre
sted and detained at Atlantis SAPS for the possession of a prohibited firearm. He will appear in the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court today for the mentioned charges.
