Integrated SAPS operation yields success

WESTERN CAPE - Efforts to rid streets in the Western Cape of firearms and drugs yielded positive results when an integrated SAPS operation was conducted in Laingsburg yesterday. Members of Flying Squad, K9 Unit and Laingsburg police executed a search warrant in River Street, Bergsig and confiscated an airgun, ammunition and drugs. Three adult males were arrested for dealing in drugs and the illegal possession of ammunition.

The suspects will appear in the Laingsburg Magistrates court on Friday.

In an unrelated matter members of the Cape Town K9 Unit arrested four males for the possession of a hijacked vehicle and possession of a prohibited firearm in Maitland on Wednesday evening 2023-02-22. The members saw a vehicle making an illegal turn in the road and stop it. The vehicle and the occupants were searched and a gas pistol and a revolver were found in the vehicle. Further investigations revealed that the vehicle was hijacked in Lentegeur.

Once charged the suspects will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
