Injuries Sideline Namibian Players from World Cup Qualifying Matches

WINDHOEK – The Brave Warriors’ roster for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers has been impacted by injuries, with Mamelodi Sundowns’ striker Peter Shalulile among the players sidelined.

According to NAMPA, Brave Warriors head coach Collin Benjamin reported that the national team will miss key players such as Ronald Ketjijere, Devin Somseb, and Peter Shalulile in their qualifying matches against Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome and Principe, slated for the 15th and 21st of November 2023, respectively.

The team, already challenged with a number of injuries, saw a successful training camp focusing on defensive and offensive tactics, despite the setbacks. Benjamin noted the promising performance of young players Quinton Kuruseb, Erastus Kalulu, and Lawrence Doeseb, and commended Charles Hambira for his return to form following an injury.

With the World Cup qualifiers also serving as preparation for the 2024 African Nations Cup, the Brave Warriors aim to assess player contributions and strive for a goal of four points from the two matches. The squad is expected to be finalized ahead of their departure to South Africa for training before traveling to Equatorial Guinea.
