Hop on a MyCiTi bus for easy shopping over festive season

The City of Cape Town will adapt its service schedules as from Friday, 9 December 2022, to suit the needs of residents and visitors to the city over the festive season.

'The City is excited to welcome visitors to Cape Town during the festive season. I encourage residents and visitors to hop onto one of our buses. It is a stress-free way of travelling in the holiday period when it is difficult to find parking in popular areas. All you need is a valid myconnect card loaded with Mover points,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

This year, passengers can look forward to late-night shopping with additional trips to Century City and the V&A Waterfront.

Commuters are advised to take note of the following:

Canal Walk

9 – 23 December 2022

Route Extra buses

D08 Dunoon – Montague Gardens – Century City: last trip from Century City at 22:20

T03 Atlantis – Melkbosstrand – Table View – Century City: last trip from Century City at 22:20

V&A Waterfront

15 – 30 December 2022

Route Extra buses

T01 Dunoon – Table View – Civic Centre – Waterfront: last trip from Waterfront at 22:30

214a Parklands – Table View – Marine Circle: last trip from Table View at 23:25

Commuters are reminded that there will be fewer services on weekdays from Monday, 19 December until Sunday, 8 January 2023, given that fewer people will be travelling to work during this time.

'I advise those wanting to make use of the service to familiarise themselves with the bus schedules. The MyCiTi app and website will be very useful over this period as it provides live updates of when the buses are to arrive at certain stops or stations. The app is a convenient planning tool to avoid waiting around at stops and stations,' said Councillor Quintas.

All of the MyCiTi service timetables and route information is available at https://www.myciti.org.za, or on the MyCiTi app. The app is available free from iOS and Google Play stores; or phone the Transport Information Centre (TIC) on 0800 65 64 63. The TIC is available 24/7.
