Today, 6 September 2021, Councillor Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, visited High Level Road in Green Point to see the progress with the resurfacing of a section of High Level Road between Ocean View Drive and Glengariff Road. Read more below:

The works commenced on 31 August 2021 and the completion date is scheduled for mid-October 2021, pending unforeseen delays and inclement weather.

The City is investing R1,7 million in this project.

The City decided to commence with the work after a road inspection was conducted. Some sections of the road were deteriorated and were marked to be replaced with a new surface layer to increase its lifespan. The purpose of the selective repairs is to improve the road surface until future road rehabilitation can be undertaken.

‘As part of my commitment to ensure a back to basics ethos, I went out there this morning and I am happy to see the progress made within a week after the works have commenced. This is one way we are living up to our commitment to delivering basic services that will improve the lives of our residents. We are doing all we can to deliver on the basics – that is, to ensure the roads around Cape Town are in a good condition. I am confident that road users will enjoy the  benefits once the work is completed,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Councillor Rob Quintas.
