DURBAN – The Jozini Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are appealing to the community to assist with information that may help them find a new born baby (four days old) that was taken from the mother (35) at the Mamlambo bus stop in Maphanya area.
It is alleged that on 10 August 2021 the mother had just been discharged from hospital after giving birth to a baby boy the day before, when she met with an unknown female who offered to carry the child for her. They boarded a bus from the hospital and when they got off at Mamlambo bus station, the woman disappeared with the baby whilst the mother was eating her meal. When she made enquiries in the vicinity, she was told that a silver grey motor vehicle picked up the woman with the baby and drove away.
Anyone with information that can assist police to find the baby is requested to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Hadebe on 079 902 6088 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
