Health Department employee in court for tender corruption

WESTERN CAPE- A former department of health employee and a director of a company appeared at the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Bellville for alleged fraud and corruption, amounting to approximately R29 500.

 

Sharifa Hendricks (47) appeared in court on Tuesday, 16 November 2021, after she was served with court summons on the 04 October 2021 by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation.

 

It is alleged that Hendricks a director of Karmer solutions and financials she was intricately involved in the administration process which led to the awarding of contract tender to a company which belonged to her.

 

The contract for the tender amounted to just over R29 5 00 and Hendricks failed to disclose to the Department her interest in her company.

 

Hendricks was released on warning and will be back in the same court on 26 January 2022.
