PRETORIA – The National Head for the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, Lieutenant General (DR/Adv) Godfrey Lebeya welcomed the appointment of the new Deputy National Head, seven (7) Senior Managers and 244 members ranging from junior level to middle management.
This follows the continuous quest to capacitate the Directorate to its full functionality.
The newly appointed Deputy National Head, Lieutenant General Siphosethu Nkosi has an immense experience in commercial and fraud investigation. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree, National Diploma in Police Administration, Bachelor of Technology in Policing, Certificate in Human Resources Management and another certificate in Money Laundering as well as a vast of courses in fraud, financial investigation and crime intelligence covert operation courses. He is currently studying towards a Master of Philosophy in Theology.
The policing journey of the legendary investigator started from KwaMhlanga in the Mpumalanga province where he was a student constable in 1987. He grew up within the ranks in the South African Police Service where he rapidly became the fraud investigator. He then worked in the SAPS Crime Intelligence where his former position was the Section Head, Commercial and Financial Crime Intelligence Covert Collection.
In 2010, he joined the Directorate where he became the Section Head, Serious Economic Offences Unit until 2018 where he was appointed as the Component Head, Priority Crime Specialised Investigation which deals with the Cybercrime, Financial and Asset Forfeiture Investigations.
Preceding his appointment was that of the Component Head, Executive Support Services (ESS), Major General Jessica Surajbali; Provincial Commanders for Priority Crime Specialized Investigation(PCSI) in Mpumalanga and Western Cape, Brigadier BT Davenport and Brigadier PL Bergh; Provincial Commander, Corporate Support Services, Brigadier VS Hastings; Section Head, Financial Investigations, Brigadier ML Kgalapa; Provincial Commander, Serious Organised Crime Investigation( SOCI) Northern Cape, Brigadier SC Mojela and the Section Head for Human Resource Management Development, Brigadier Mogoma Monyela.
In his remarks, Lieutenant General (Dr/Adv) Godfrey Lebeya “I believe that these appointments will not only improve capacity challenges within the Directorate but will also increase the skill set of our workforce,” narrated Lt Gen Lebeya.
