Hawks Priority Crime Specialised Investigation secure R9 million forfeiture order worth of gold

GAUTENG – The Hawks Priority Crime Specialised Investigation (PCSI), has resulted in a forfeiture order of over R9 million worth of gold bars being granted against Masnire Tashinga Nyasa (34) who tried to smuggle the gold into the country on 08 May 2021.

Nyasa was arrested by members of the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime with the assistance of customs officials at Or Tambo International (ORTIA. He consequently appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court facing charges of illegally dealing with precious metals. The court granted him R100 000 bail and he has been in attendance since, his next appearance scheduled for later this year.

The Johannesburg High Court has on Wednesday, 26 October 2022, granted a final forfeiture order of 23 pieces of gold, following a compelling Hawks’ investigation.
