Police in Taung opened a cash-in-transit robbery following an incident that took place at about 12:30 on Monday, 09 September 2024, at Taung Central Business District (CBD). It is alleged that the police found a cash-in-transit van with several bullet holes while the driver was found with a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. According to information, security officers were loading empty cash containers when attacked by four males. The latter took three empty cash containers. One of the suspects who fled from the scene driving in a white Volkswagen Tiguan, was shot on the leg. The suspects’ car was later found abandoned in the bushes along the N18 road between Taung and Hartswater.
The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) is investigating and no one has been arrested.
