Hawks arrest fraudster for over R3.9 million theft

An alleged fraudster, Bennett Molope Molaudi (40), was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team on Thursday 29, August 2024, when a warrant for his arrest was executed.

The arrest follows the Hawks Investigation into two fraud cases that were registered at Sandton police station in March 2022.

It is reported that during the period of January 2022 to May 2022, an unknown individual somewhat managed to alter bank accounts details belonging to three investors from NGI. The said accounts are held at Nedbank.

As a result of the misrepresentation, that included changing of contact details to enable fraudulent access to One Time Pin (OTP), R3 954 823,43 was transferred to African Bank and consequently withdrawn from there. All three affected clients denied having African Bank accounts.

The Hawks Investigation followed the money, resulting in the arrest of Molaudi. He appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 30 August 2024. He has was granted bail of R5000 and the case wa
s adjourned until 19 September 2024.
