Today, 25 March 2022, is a truly special day for beneficiaries in Harare, Khayelitsha as they receive keys to their brand new homes, as well as title deeds. Title deeds are an important part of the City’s efforts to enable redress and transformation.

The City of Cape Town’s Human Settlements Directorate hosted a special handover ceremony, where keys and title deeds were handed over to beneficiaries. The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, and dignitaries handed over keys as well as title deeds.

‘Today is a special day for the City, as we celebrate this important handover of keys and title deeds to beneficiaries in Harare, Khayelitsha. We are committed to enabling redress and transformation and we will continue to hand over many more keys to homes as well as title deeds, to qualifying beneficiaries, over the coming months in areas across the city.

‘We thank the City teams for making this special handover possible. Title deeds are important, as it is proof of ownership, and will become assets for their children and grandchildren.

‘The City has repeatedly stated its commitment to building an inclusive city, unlocking opportunities and enabling redress and we will continue to prove this through our actions in the months and years to come,’ said Councillor Booi.
