Media representatives are invited to a briefing to outline the policy implementation actions on measures to restrict and regulate trade in ferrous and non-ferrous metals waste, scrap and semi-finished ferrous and non-ferrous metal products to limit the damage to infrastructure and the South African economy.
This follows the publication of the draft policy proposals, Gazette No. 47202, on 05 August 2022; taking into consideration the public comments on those draft policy proposals, and Cabinet’s review, comments and approval of the final comprehensive package of measures to address the damage caused by metal theft to public infrastructure and the economy by restricting and regulating trade of waste, scrap and semi-finished metals.
