Committee to conduct oversight visits at abandoned housing projects in Tshwane

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Portfolio Committee on Co-operative Governance & Human Settlements will on Thursday, 17 February 2022 conduct oversight visits to various abandoned housing projects in Soshanguve, Mabopane, Garankuwa and Winterveldt Renewal project.

The purpose of these oversight visits is to enable the Committee to get first-hand experience of challenges that have led to these housing projects being incomplete in order to hold the Department directly accountable on failed housing projects that were meant to bring pride and dignity to beneficiaries.

The oversight visits will be followed by a Committee meeting where Members of the Committee will raise questions to representatives of the Department of Human Settlements; as well as recommendations in resolving these challenges.
