Soweto, Gauteng – Gauteng police have announced a cash reward of R50,000 for information leading to the arrest and successful conviction of a suspect linked to 42 rape cases.
According to South African Government News Agency, the suspect primarily operates in the Orlando and Diepkloof areas of Soweto. He is known to accost his victims, demanding money and cellphones before committing sexual assault.
The suspect, armed during his assaults, targets victims on the streets, in homes, shops, and entertainment areas. He then forces them to secluded locations to carry out the attacks. Police reports indicate that the victims are females aged between 14 and 53 years.
In response to these heinous crimes, police have mobilized extensive resources. This includes the R50,000 reward offer, intended to encourage public assistance in capturing the alleged serial rapist, who is believed to be in his late 30s. The police are emphasizing the urgency of apprehending the suspect and bringing him to justice.
The public is urged to come forward with any information that might assist in the case.
