Gangsters disarmed in Manenberg and Kensington

WESTERN CAPE – Serious and violent crimes associated with gang activities in this province remain high on our priority list and our members are determined to disarm ruthless criminals for the safety of the communities they serve.

Yesterday afternoon members of Kensington police and the Anti-Gang Unit reacted to a shooting incident in the area and arrested a 32-year-old male suspect for being in possession of two unlicensed pistols and 17 rounds of ammunition.

In an unrelated police intervention, members of the Manenberg Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 22-year-old male suspect in possession of a revolver without a serial number and two rounds of ammunition in Heideveld last night. The unit also reacted to a shooting incident in the area when they spotted the armed suspect fleeing the scene.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Cape Town and Athlone respectively.
