Free State hosts World Tourism Day Celebrations, 27 Sept

The Free State Provincial Government will be hosting the World Tourism Day Celebrations on the 27th September 2021, following a successful Tourism Month Media Launch on the 27th August 2021.

World Tourism Day is an annual event that is celebrated on 27 of September throughout the world, with the purpose of fostering awareness about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. For this year’s Tourism Month activities, DESTEA drew inspiration from the theme “Tourism for inclusive growth” approved by the United Nations Tourism World Organisation (UNTWO) as the theme to celebrate the 2021 World Tourism Day and Tourism Month.

The Tourism Month and World Tourism Day Celebrations affords the Free State an opportunity to foster awareness about domestic travel among communities, for Tourism Month, DESTEA supported tourism initiatives aimed at promoting the Free State as a tourism destination as well as inspire Free Staters to travel their own backyard.

Hosting the World Tourism Day Celebrations is another opportunity for the Free State to foster stakeholder relations, reposition its tourism offerings and inspire Free Staters to be tourism ambassadors.
