The Honourable Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, together with DESTEA’S MEC Makalo Mohale will be hosting a Women’s Luncheon in honour of women in business in the Free State. The luncheon will provide a platform to explore how best to support women and encourage them to grow and thrive in their respective careers and businesses as we work together to ensure a gender equal world.
August 2021 is the 65th anniversary of the revolutionary protest that proved the strength of women in our country and the power they hold in shaping the future not only for themselves, but for their successors. The significance of Women’s Month in South Africa goes beyond celebrating the achievements of our female heroes in our past, but also acts as a reminder of the barriers we as a society are responsible for breaking for the female heroes of the future.
The luncheon will explore how to support women to progress in professional careers and business and discuss how inclusion, leadership development and education can promote more opportunities for women and girls. Each of the five (5) panel discussions will focus on a different topic centred on the luncheon’s “Help Each Other Grow” theme aimed at empowering women in all industries and enforcing the emancipation of women from all walks of life.
The topics that will be discussed include:
Helping each other grow and the advancement of black professionals
Women in science demonstrating how different the future will be
Current state of gender inclusion and what impedes equality
Humbling yourself & trusting the process
Women in business
