DESTEA to host an Astro-Tourism tour and Star-Gazing experience

The Free State Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (DESTEA) in partnership with the University of the Free State (UFS) will be hosting an Astro-Tourism tour and star gazing experience on 11 November 2022, at the Naval Hill Planetarium to Boyden observatory.

Tourism as an industry has significantly been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to the decline of tourist guides in the Province. Therefore, the department has embarked on the revitalization of the tourist-guiding sub-sector, which includes identifying products to be added to their current product offerings.

This initiative is further encouraged by the necessity to develop, implement and promote the niche tourism sector; to promote astrology enthusiasts locally and internationally.
