Free State crime combatting operations nets 470 suspects

Multi-disciplinary executed operation held throughout the province yielded positive results. The ongoing operation in all 5 Districts in the Free State Province namely; Fezile Dabi District, Mangaung District, Lejweleputswa District, Thabo Mofutsanyana District and Xhariep District, made it possible to ensure that Free State becomes the safest province in the country.

 

During period 06 to 12 October 2021, a total of 470 suspects were arrested including 7 suspects arrested for rape, 10 for murder, 40 for possession of suspected stolen property, 22 for burglary (houses), 73 for drugs related charges and drugs such as Khat, Dagga, Mandrax, Nyaope and Christal meth were confiscated.

 

1 suspected stolen vehicle was recovered, 2 unlicensed firearms and 50 ammunition pieces were also confiscated. A total of 1179 liquor outlets were visited for compliance as well as second hand goods shops.

 

All suspects will appear on these different charges in their different magistrate courts throughout the province.

 

The Free State Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane issued a sterling warning to the residents and visitors in this province to abide by the law or risk being behind bars and not being be able to celebrate the festive season.
