Four suspects caught with copper in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM – A crime intelligence driven operation led to the arrest of four suspects after they were found with more than 10 bundles of copper wire outside Bethlehem.

On Tuesday, 25 October 2022 the Bethlehem Crime Intelligence Gathering, Bethlehem K9 Unit, Bethlehem Public Order Police together with private security were following intelligence driven information with regard to certain suspects transporting copper wire on the R26 outside Bethlehem. The suspects’ vehicle was spotted, stopped and searched in which more than 10 bundles of copper wire was found weighing 448 kilograms.

The four suspects are expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property and damaging of infrastructure.
