PARKTOWN – Four men were arrested on Friday, 21 January 2022, at Mapleton, Dawnpark for possession of suspected stolen diesel.
The members of Gauteng Highway Patrol followed up on intelligence information about illegal sale of diesel, stored at a certain plot in Mapleton. The said address was closely monitored and tactically approached.
The four suspects were caught in the act of filling different containers with diesel. They could not produce proof purchase and were all arrested for possession of suspected stolen diesel. The recovered diesel is 10 000 litres.
All suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
The Provincial Commissioner of Gauteng, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela has praised the members for their vigilance and swift reaction that ensured that suspects are arrested and the diesel is recovered.
