Concerted efforts in the fight against illegal firearms across the Limpopo Province, police in Tzaneen confiscated two firearms and 25 live rounds of ammunition at Marironi village in Bolobedu South under the Tzaneen policing area. Subsequent to operation that targeted suspects who committed trio crimes at Letsitele, Tzaneen and Bolobedu policing areas in Mopani District, the police received information about suspects planning to commit a business robbery at Bolobedu South.
Members swiftly operationalised the information, and four suspects aged between 34 and 54 were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition at Marironi village. During the arrest police confiscated also cell phones and among other items.
The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has praised the members who took part in ensuring that the firearms are removed from the hands of the criminals and for arresting them.
The suspects will appear before Bolobedu Magistrate’s Court on Thur
sday, 12 September 2024 facing charges of possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
