WINDHOEK: Founding President Sam Nujoma is hospitalised as a routine and precautionary measure due to an infection given his advanced age, but is recuperating well.
This was according to a joint press statement issued on Sunday by the Founding President’s Personal Physician, Dr Tshalli Iithete and Senior Special Assistant to the Founding President, Paul Shipale.
Iithete and Shipale said that Nujoma is under the care of a competent and dedicated team of health practitioners comprising medical doctors and registered nurses, as well as specialists who are looking after him.
They further indicated that the medical team caring for Founding President Nujoma is satisfied and grateful for his strong recovery following his hospitalisation on Thursday.
‘He is recuperating very well and we are satisfied with his recovery progress,’ read the statement.
In addition, Iithete and Shipale called on Namibians to heed Nujoma’s timeless call of unity of purpose and action and letting their deeds be the candles that illumin
ate the path towards a brighter tomorrow, where unity reigns supreme and the echoes of his wisdom resound for eternity when he always says: ‘A people united, striving to achieve a common good for all the members of the society, will always emerge victorious.’
