POLOKWANE – The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the dedicated teams of members of SAPS, SANDF and the farmers at Alldays who worked tirelessly to track down the suspects allegedly involved in the attack of farming family members on Thursday, 22 September 2022. This after a group of about five (5) suspects armed with firearms allegedly intruded into a farm house at ‘Schietfontein’ at around 10h00.
An elderly woman aged 71, who reportedly stays with her son aged 47, and a farmworker, where accosted by the suspects who were already in the house. The suspects demanded money and firearms. The three victims were then shot and sustained injuries during the process. The suspects fled the scene on foot after taking money, firearms and ammunition.
The swift reaction by members of Beit Bridge Musina Task Team, Musina Flying Squad, SANDF, local Farmers and Alldays SAPS after receiving the report, led to the activation of a massive search operation which was embarked upon.
The team ultimately managed to track down the suspects who were in hiding place within the farming precinct and were arrested. During the arrest, the police recovered the stolen items, including firearms, ammunition and cash money.
“The partnership that was manifested during this joint operation, is highly commendable and has to be strengthened in all corners of the Province,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The five suspects, aged between 26 and 34, are expected to appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Monday 26 September 2022, facing charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.
