PARKTOWN - The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Gauteng, Major General Girly Mbele has welcomed five arrests made by the detectives attached to Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit over the weekend.
Four suspects were arrested for the shooting incident that occurred on 04 April 2022 at Chicken Farm in Kliptown. During the incident, four people were killed and two injured.
On another incident, two people were shot dead on 03 April 2022 at Tjovitjo informal settlement, Freedom Park by a group of unknown men, leaving seven people injured before fleeing the scene.
Both cases were assigned to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit for further investigation. The team followed up on all the available information which led to these arrests.
The suspects are expected to appear before a Magistrates' Court on 12 April 2022 on charges of murder and attempted murder. Further investigations continue.
"On behalf of the SAPS management in Gauteng I would like to commend the detectives involved in the investigation of these serious and violent cases for the prompt and effective arrests," said Major General Mbele.
