Today, 31 August 2021, the City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi, and other dignitaries handed over keys to the first beneficiaries of the City’s R33 million Eindhoven affordable housing project, in Delft. The project will provide 201 housing opportunities to some of the most vulnerable residents in the metro.
City handed over homes to 17 beneficiaries. This project will provide opportunities to more than 800 of the metro’s most vulnerable residents.
Today we celebrate with the first beneficiaries of the Eindhoven project, and we are extremely pleased to see the progress the City’s teams have made over the last few months. The beneficiaries are first time homeowners, and we are delighted to play a part in making their dreams a reality.
‘The City remains committed to providing affordable housing opportunities to beneficiaries and we will continue to create opportunities in well located areas across the city. We thank the project teams for their dedication and we look forward to providing many more affordable housing opportunities to residents over the coming months,’ said Councillor Booi.
The City’s projects works in accordance with the Housing Allocation Policy and the Housing Needs Register to ensure a fair and organised approach to the allocation of opportunities. The beneficiary target areas are determined in consultation with the community’s representatives, and submitted to a Housing Allocation Committee for approval.
Beneficiaries for this project were selected in accordance with the City’s Housing Allocation Policy and Housing Needs Register to ensure housing opportunities are made available in a fair and transparent manner that prevents queue jumping and to those who qualify for housing as per the South African legislation.
