FCS investigator leads quality investigation and secures a conviction of 22-years imprisonment for rape

GAUTENG - Booysens Regional Court sentenced a 35-year-old man to 22 years imprisonment for rape on Tuesday, 1 February 2022. The convicted rapist's name is also included in the National Register of Sexual Offenders in terms of the provisions of Section 50 (1) (a) of the Criminal Procedure (Sexual Offenses) Amendment Act 32 of 2007. He is also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The accused raped a six-year-old girl related to him. The victim had visited her aunt during the winter school holidays in July 2019 when the accused called her to his bedroom. He raped the minor on three different occasions.

The accused was apprehended by Johannesburg Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS) on the 23 October 2019.

The successful conviction is a result of the sterling investigation conducted by Sergeant Qondile Mkhabela, a detective at Johannesburg Central Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit (FCS).
