Narathiwat: The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has temporarily closed the Maruebo-Tanyongmas railway line after discovering track damage resulting from an explosion. Initially, no injuries or fatalities were reported. Inspection and repairs are being conducted as swiftly as possible.

According to Thai News Agency, the explosion occurred on the railway tracks at kilometer 1090/6-7 between Maruebo and Tanyongmas stations in Narathiwat province. The incident was reported to the SRT at approximately 09:47 AM, prompting the dispatch of security personnel to investigate the area and implement strict safety measures.

The SRT has announced the temporary closure of the track section between Maruebo and Tanjungmas stations. This closure affects several train services, including the suspension of affected trains and adjustments to train schedules to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. Commercial long-distance trains such as Special Express Train No. 37 and Train No. 172 are among those impacted, with changes in their routes and operations. Local trains, including Train No. 452, Train No. 451, and others, have also been affected, with some services suspended or rerouted.

Currently, the SRT is awaiting confirmation from security officials that the area is safe before allowing personnel to assess the damage and carry out necessary repairs. The SRT has prepared materials and equipment for the repairs and will begin work once granted access. Repairs are expected to take approximately three hours after permission is obtained, with train services resuming only after safety confirmation.
