Sandton: The Energy Intensive Users Group of Southern Africa (EIUG) and VUKA Group have announced that they will jointly host the EIUG Conference alongside the CandI Energy + Storage Summit on the 28th and 29th of October, 2026, at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton.
According to African Press Organization, the EIUG Conference is set to serve as a pivotal platform for open dialogue addressing the challenges and opportunities within the electricity industry. The event aims to gather government officials, industry leaders, energy-intensive consumers, and service providers to exchange insights, strengthen industrial competitiveness, and explore viable solutions for the future of South Africa's energy sector.
The two-day event will feature a comprehensive programme, including ministerial and industry keynotes, panel discussions on critical topics such as tariff escalation, carbon tax, the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and electricity market reforms. Additionally, masterclasses focusing on financing, digitalisation, grid security, and hydrogen development will be conducted.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in networking functions, case study presentations, and practical workshops designed to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy practices. The EIUG Conference is not merely a gathering but a strategic platform intended to shape South Africa's industrial energy future, according to Fanele Mondi, CEO of EIUG. He emphasized the importance of fostering open dialogue and developing practical solutions to enhance competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience within the industry.
