Employers are urged to inform UIF officials in advance about possible retrenchments

The outreach service at Groblersdal Labour Centre is still underway. Department of Employment and Labour in Limpopo embarked on the initiative from the 8th February 2023.

According to Director Beneficiary Services Vuledzani Mulindi there’s an influx of seasonal farm workers who got retrenched from farms and therefore need their Unemployment Insurance Fund benefits.

Vuledzani Mulindi said: “To ensure that we reach out to as many clients as possible, we deployed twelve Rapid Response Team from Polokwane Provincial Office to assist with capturing applications. Client’s applications are currently being captured, processed and approved on the spot”.

Mulindi is appealing to clients to remain calm as their applications will be captured.

Employers are requested to inform UIF officials in advance about possible retrenchment to enable proper planning.

“As clients are in need of their benefits it therefore, important for employers to work together with their former employees in case of outstanding documents”, Mulindi continued.

Clients are encouraged to bring their smartphones so they can be assisted with online applications to curb load shedding issues.

“It remains crucial for employers to declare employees for UIF so that their claims are processed with ease. We are committed to serving our clients with dignity,” he concluded.

The initiative is set to continue taking place until large number of clients have been serviced.
