PARKTOWN – Ten men and one woman aged between 21 and 37 are expected to appear before Boksburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 10 October 2022, after they were allegedly found in possession of a large quantity of cooking oil that was reported stolen in Boksburg on Wednesday, 05 October 2022.
It is alleged that approximately eight armed men stormed into a company in Boksburg and held employees at gun point. The suspects then loaded cooking oil to the estimated value of R1.5 million into their three trucks and drove off. Later in the evening, police officers from Gauteng Highway Patrol received information that one of the trucks was headed to Vanderbijlpark, still with the cargo. Police asked for backup from various Private Security Companies. The truck matching the description was spotted entering business premises in Vanderbijlpark. The team then pounced on the suspects while they were busy offloading the cooking oil.
Eleven suspects were arrested and charged with possession of presumed stolen property. The investigation is underway to establish if the arrested suspects are linked to the robbery and the search is underway for the loot that is still missing.
