Eight suspects arrested in attack and robbery of teacher

Eight suspects were arrested on Thursday following the attack and robbery of a teacher at Rudolf Ngondo Primary School in Rundu.

Namibian Police Force Acting Regional Commander in the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu told members of the media on Friday the suspects’ names cannot be disclosed at this point as the investigation is still in its infancy.

Nambahu said two men jumped over the school fence before holding two teachers, one male and one female, at knifepoint in a classroom.

The suspects allegedly injured the male teacher and grabbed the female teacher’s handbag that contained N.dollars 14 000.

The two suspects allegedly ran out of the classroom, jumped over the school fence, and sped off in a silver Polo without a number plate.

The N.dollars 14 000 which belonged to the school was allegedly withdrawn from Bank Windhoek the same day and was meant for a regional sports event the teachers were assisting the school in organising.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
