WESTERN CAPE - The abuse of drugs is one of the root causes of violent crime, and members attached to Grabouw SAPS, Kraaifontein SAPS and Lwandle SAPS are lauded for their efforts to take drugs off the streets.
Today a known drug dealer was spotted by members attached to Grabouw SAPS at Rooidakke area. The police members stopped and searched the person. A bread bag containing 144 Mandrax tablets and a undisclosed of cash believed to be proceeds of selling drugs was found on him and confiscated. A 38 year old suspect was arrested on a charge of possession of drugs.
In an unrelated matter on Sunday, 28 August 2022 at about 23:00 members of the Provincial Operation Restore Team was following up on information they received from the Provincial Task Team in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein. Upon arrival at the address they searched the premises and found 150 mandrax tablets, 71 sachets of Tik, three bags containing 220grams of Tik, 13 sachets of cocaine with the value of plus minus R50 000-00 abandoned. The drugs was seized and handed in as exhibits. An enquiry into the matter was registered for further investigation.
Kraaifontein SAPS members arrested a 26 year old male on a charge of possession of dagga in Savela Street, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein. The members were busy with crime prevention patrols in the Wallacedene area when they saw the suspicious looking male stopped and search him. They found dagga sachets in his possession.
In an unrelated incident Kraaifontein Crime Prevention unit and Crime Intelligence conducted a crime intelligence operation on Friday, 26 August 2022 at a premises in Rembrand Street, Scottsville, Kraaifontein.
Members received information about a prison gang leader operating in Kraaifontein area but resides in Saldanha Bay. Observations were held and information gathered regarding drugs and firearms on the identified premises of the target. Information was received of a drug drop off and was operationalized. Upon entering the dwelling, they confiscated 200 mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R8000-00, and arrested an adult male for possession of drugs
Lwandle SAPS received information about drugs at a premises in Ralarala Street, Lwandle, Strand. Upon searching the premises, the members found 1790 mandrax tablets, 325g grams of methamphetamine and a undisclosed amount of cash was found abandoned. An enquiry into the matter was registered for further investigation.
Once charged the suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Grabouw and Blue Downs Magistrate Court’s on the mentioned charges.
